On January 15th, initiated and hosted by Beijing Reignwood Culture Foundation and in cooperation with Shiyan and Xinxiang governments, the large-scale public service photography program “Green China, Healthy China” officially opened. Though this program, Chinese and foreign photographers will show the audience the Green Revolution that is happening in the land of China. This program is aimed at spreading China’s achievement in green development to the world and call on more forces to make their efforts in building a green and healthy China.
This project invited the famous National Geographic photographer Michael Yamashita and President of China Artistic Photography Society Yang Yuanxing and other famous photographers at home and abroad. The first phase of this program has chosen ten regions of China which are unique with their environmental protection, green development and human, culture and natural landscape. The photography will be shot in four seasons and they will demonstrate, from the humanistic perspective, the past, present and future of China’s green development.
At the ceremony, Yang Yuanxing presented his photography works in Chang Baishan and Inner Mongolia, expressing that China has vast territory with abundant resources and beautiful nature landscapes, and building a green and healthy China is to build a beautiful China. He hopes to express his love and best wishes for the country through his photography works.
Michael Yamashita expressed that he was very honored to be in part of this Green China program, and this program is of extreme importance not only to China but to all of Planet Earth. During the speech, He said ” When I first heard of Green China, I envisioned a program focused on preserving the environment, thinking of “green” as a metaphor for nature. But Reignwood’s vision takes “green” a step further, adding healthy living to a healthy environment.”
At the launch ceremony, Michael in particular showed a picture he photographed of a single monk performing Tai Chi surrounded by nothing but blue sky. He thinks it is a perfect symbol for Green China. And he is looking forward to photographing more of the same in the coming year-documenting China’s natural treasures and healthy lifestyles as a lesson for all mankind on how we should be conducting our lives.
Reignwood Culture Foundation has always been taking “enhancing our cultural self-confidence and promoting culture prosperity” as its mission. The Green China, Healthy China program, as a powerful project following the “Beautiful China”, “Beautiful Ice-snow” and “Silk Road Journey”, will be shown to the public in various forms including exhibition, documentary and picture album, etc.
